Guardian of the galaxy: future astronaut Luciana Vega loves science and dreams of flying to Mars! The 11-year-old novice astronaut is declared the doll of the year for 2018.
The dark-eyed brown-haired Lucian wants to go to Mars and is a “born leader”, “creative” and “confident” person.
The doll was presented to the public on December 28, 2017 at The big reveal, when 20 girls in NASA astronaut costumes filled Good Morning America. The doll came down from the ceiling when the light went out in the studio and a mysterious fog filled it. Defying gravity! After the show, the girls were able to take the dolls with them – before they even appeared in stores.
American Girl worked with NASA staff, including female astronauts. Among the women the company worked with were Dr. Megan MacArthur Behnken, NASA astronaut; Dr. Ellen Stofan, former NASA chief scientist; Dr. Deborah Barnhart, Director General of the United States Space and Missile Center; and Maureen O’Brien, NASA Strategic Alliance Manager.
The new 18-inch doll will hit stores in the U.S. on Monday January 1, 2018, along with a series of three books and outfits and accessories in the STEM style. These stories, written by Erin Teagan and published by Scholastic, detail more about the leader and follow her when she wins a scholarship to the space camp in Alabama.
The American girl doll is the dream of those who think about space.
Luciana is a role model for today’s girls, provides them with the opportunity to challenge stereotypes, take risks and failures, and chart their own course in life.
She looks amazing, she has a backpack, she is like a real astronaut! And she tries to inspire people.
